Chargers Brass Seen Training With Highly-Rated Left Tackle Prospect

Will the Bolts consider drafting this highly touted tackle?

The Los Angeles Chargers are making all the stops and doing their due diligence as they hold the number five pick in the 2024 NFL draft. There's a chance the Chargers could trade down; however, they currently hold a very valuable draft pick.

Whether they keep it or not is up to the Charger brass; nonetheless, one thing is for sure: this draft is loaded with talent in many positions. It will be nearly impossible for the Bolts to miss on their pick, barring anything catastrophic.

The Chargers have been linked to many players; however, they were recently seen with one of the top offensive tackles in the draft, Alabama left tackle JC Latham. Alabama held their Pro Day on Wednesday, and Chargers brass was seen working out with the highly touted tackle.

In Mel Kiper's 2.0 draft in late February, he had the Bolts selecting Latham with the number five pick.

Latham is among the most dominant offensive line prospects in this year's draft. That says a lot, considering how deep and talented this draft is, especially at that position. If the Bolts wanted to, they could use their pick on Latham. He's exactly what head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman love in a player, especially in the trenches.

He's quick and agile and presents a ton of trouble for pass rushers due to those qualities, including his size and strength. His pass block is elite-level stuff, as well as a pass block and run block prowess. Latham can certainly keep quarterback Justin Herbert clean alongside their other elite Pro Bowl left tackle, Rashawn Slater.

The Bolts also need a pass catcher on their team now, so it'll be interesting to see what the front office will do. Latham is moving up the ranks. Will the Chargers decide to take a bite of the apple?
