Candace Parker Re-Signs With Aces Ahead of 2024 WNBA Season
The Las Vegas Aces are looking to become the first team to win three consecutive WNBA championships since 2000, and they’ve agreed to a deal to re-up with one of the league’s most renowned players.
Coming off of back-to-back WNBA Finals victories, the Aces and superstar forward Candace Parker have agreed to a new contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Parker made the move to Las Vegas ahead of the 2023 season. She featured in 18 games last year, but missed out on the team’s title run due to a fractured foot. Parker reportedly dealt with the injury throughout the season, fighting through pain to make 18 appearances for the Aces. She averaged 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists while logging 23.6 minutes per night before undergoing season-ending surgery.
The 37-year-old is a three-time WNBA champion, two-time MVP and seven-time All-Star. The 2024 season will be her 17th in the league, and she’ll be looking to add another ring to her résumé as her career begins to wind down.
Las Vegas enters the season as the betting favorites to win the 2024 WNBA Finals, and keeping Parker in the mix should only improve the Aces’ odds at another successful title run.
The last team to win three straight championships in the WNBA was the Houston Comets, who won a title in each of the first four years of the league’s existence from 1997-2000.
