Allie Quigley to Sit Out 2023 WNBA Season, per Report
Sky guard Allie Quigley will reportedly sit out for the 2023 season, according to Winsidr’s Rachel Galligan.
The move comes amid much turnover on Chicago’s roster. Seven-time All-Star Candace Parker announced that she was leaving Chicago and taking her talents to Las Vegas to play for the Aces. On Tuesday, Courtney Vandersloot–Quigley’s partner—announced that she would not re-sign with the Sky after 12 years with the team and was seeking a “new beginning.” The duo played a big role in helping the Sky secure their first WNBA title in ’21.
A report surfaced earlier Wednesday that Vandersloot was set to sign with Seattle. However, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that Vandersloot’s agent, Lindsay Kagawa-Colas, said the veteran guard had not made a final decision.
Although she won’t play this season, the four-time WNBA three point champion is not retiring, per ESPN’s Holly Rowe. Quigley, a three-time All-Star, averaged 11.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists during the ’22 season.
In the Sky’s playoff run last year, Quigley averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 33.8% from the floor and 31.9% from three-point range.
2021 Finals MVP Kahleah Copper, Dana Evans, Azurá Stevens and Rebekah Gardner currently remain on the team’s roster as free agency continues.
