Carolina Panthers 7-Round Mock Draft: New Picks Following Recent Trades
It's officially mock draft season here at All Panthers on FanNation/SI. Each Sunday leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, we will release a new full, seven-round Carolina Panthers mock.
Since the last mock we released, things have changed quite a bit. The Panthers picked up a second round pick in the Brian Burns trade in addition to a higher fifth round pick. They did however, trade away their sixth round pick and CB Donte Jackson to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for WR Diontae Johnson and a seventh round pick.
So, let's get mockin'!
RD 2, Pick 33: C Zach Frazier, West Virginia
I'm pretty sure I've had Frazier mocked to the Panthers from the jump. I get the appeal for a wide receiver here, but the drop off from Frazier to the next center is much greater than whichever receiver you peg here to the next. There will be options at WR at 39. I'm afraid Frazier won't make it there. Get your guy in the middle and your offensive line is set.
RD 2, Pick 39 (from NYG): WR Xavier Legette, South Carolina
Legette could be one of those receivers folks will project Carolina takes at 33, but I think he could make it to this spot. For the sake of our mock, we're saying that he does and it becomes a no-brainer for Dan Morgan. He's a big, physical receiver that can make tough contested catches and could contribute right away alongside Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson.
RD 3, Pick 65: LB Payton Wilson, NC State
Wilson's draft range is hard to really predict because of the injury history, which is why I think he'll land somewhere in the third. Carolina needs to add more depth at linebacker with Shaq Thompson coming off a fractured fibula. Linebacker isn't a major need, but Wilson is such a Dan Morgan guy.
RD 4, Pick 101: CB Cam Hart, Notre Dame
After trading Donte Jackson, the Panthers need to add another corner. Yes, Dane Jackson is the veteran filler but I'm not sure he's a long-term solution. I really love Cam Hart's traits and skillset. Tremendous length and size that Evero can deploy against bigger targets, but also has the speed to match stride for stride with twitchier receivers.
RD 5, Pick 141 (from NYG): EDGE Mohamed Kamara, Colorado State
Over the last two seasons, Kamara has totaled 100 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, and 21.5 sacks. Very intriguing player that plays to his strengths, quite literally. Not much of a speed pass rusher and doesn't use much outside of a bull rush to get to the quarterback. You could blame that on lesser competition not being able to handle his brute strength, but either way you look at it he's viewed as a one-trick pony. That's really the only glaring thing in my eyes that hurts his stock.
RD 5, Pick 142 (from TEN): DE/LB Javon Solomon, Troy
Need your Frankie Luvu replacement? This could be your guy. He's going to need a little time to fill out and develop but he's a pure disrupter. During his career at Troy, he collected 183 tackles, 49.5 tackles for loss, and 33 sacks.
RD 7, Pick 240 (from PIT): WR Joshua Cephus, UTSA
Cephus has played a lot of ball at the collegiate level and has improved his production in every category year over year. He left UTSA with 313 receptions for 3,655 yards and 28 touchdowns.
