Jaguars Reportedly Agree to Terms With Former Ravens WR/Returner Devin Duvernay

The Jaguars seemingly have replaced Jamal Agnew via free agency.

Have the Jacksonville Jaguars found their Jamal Agnew replacement?

After three productive seasons in Jacksonville, Agnew is set to be a free agent on March 13. As a result, the Jaguars have agreed to terms with Devin Duvernay, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Jaguars have made special teams a priority in the past under general manager Trent Baalke, signing Agnew and special teams ace Rudy Ford in 2021. Three years later, Baalke has seemingly found a new Agnew via Duvernay.

A third-round pick out of Texas in the 2020 NFL Draft, Duvernay started 24 games in three years for the Ravens and appeared in 59 games. He also played in four playoff games.

Duvernay appeared in 13 games last year, catching four passes for 18 yards and returning 23 punts for 290 yards (12.6 yards per return) and nine kick returns for 174 yards (19.3 yards per return).

A Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2021, Duvernay averaged 13.8 yards per punt return and 24.1 yards per kick return. Duvernay was elected to another Pro Bowl in 2022 after averaging 11.9 yards per punt return and 25.5 kick return yards.

In four years, Duvernay has averaged 12.8 yards per punt return and 24.8 yards per kick return with two kick return touchdowns.

“I think you want to make each room as competitive as you make it. Whether it’s the d-line room, the o-line room, the receiver room. Competition is good; it’s a good thing to have on your team," Baalke said at the NFL Scouting Combine. "You want to strengthen it all the time. Each time, you want to continue to look at ways to strengthen. That’s what we do as team builders.”
