Browns Expected To Add RB D'Onta Foreman
Now a week into the 2024 league year, Browns general manager Andrew Berry is still hard at work tweaking and bolstering the team's roster for next season.
Cleveland is signing veteran running back D'Onta Foreman according to multiple reports, including Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz who was first to report the addition. Details of the contract are yet to be revealed, but Foreman represents the second running back signing by Berry this offseason after he added Nyheim Hines last week.
Foreman has bounced around quite a bit during his six-year stint in the NFL. He entered the league as a third round pick of the Texans in 2017 and has spent time with the Titans, Panthers and most recently the Bears in 2023.
Last season, the 27-year-old was featured in a running back by committee in Chicago's backfield, but wound up taking on more after injuries to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson. In nine games, including eight starts, Foreman carried the ball 109 times for 425 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 77 yards and one additional TD.
With Foreman added to the fold, the Browns currently have six running backs rostered ahead of spring workouts starting up. That list is headlined by Nick Chubb who is still working his way back from a gruesome season-ending knee injury. Due to make $15 million next year, it's unclear if Berry has plans to rework Chubb's current deal, which only includes $3 million guaranteed. Chubb's status for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign is also still unclear.
Along with the offseason acquisitions of Foreman and Hines, Cleveland has Jerome Ford, Pierre Strong and John Kelly currently under contract.
