Postgame Observations: Bengals Crush Browns 31-14, Finish With Winning Record for 3rd-Straight Season

Cincinnati finishes the season with a 9-8 record.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals beat the Browns 31-14 on Sunday to finish the season with a 9-8 record.

Cincinnati played most of their starters for the first three quarters, meanwhile Cleveland rested their guys ahead of their AFC playoff matchup next week.

Here are our postgame observations:

Ja'Marr Chase Hits Century Mark

Chase had four catches for 19 yards on Sunday. It wasn't a notable stat line, but the four receptions were enough to give him 100 catches on the season.

He's just the third Bengals player to reach that mark. T.J. Houshmandzadeh (112) and Carl Pickens (100) were the other two wide receivers to have 100 receptions in a season.

Chase left the game in the third quarter after hauling in catch No. 100.

Joe Mixon Tops 1,000

Mixon surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the fourth time in his career. He got off to a hot start, running for 80 yards and one touchdown in the first quarter. It was the 49th rushing touchdown of his career, which is second in team history. He passed Rudi Johnson (48) on the list and only trails Pete Johnson (64).

Mixon finished with 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns (one receiving). He earned an extra bonus in his contract after scoring in the first quarter.

Young Guys

The Bengals got their young guys involved in Sunday's win. Andrei Iosivas had five receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

Charlie Jones had three receptions for 49 yards, including a 35-yard catch up the seam. He also ran the ball for 13 yards.

Jordan Battle had his first career interception on the opening drive of the game. He also had a sack, a pass breakup, a quarterback hit and two tackles for loss.

History in the Making

The Bengals beat the Browns to improve to 9-8 on the season. That means the AFC North is the first division to have every team finish above .500 since 1935.

Cincinnati finished last in the division, despite posting a winning record for a third-straight season.

Quarterback Play

Jake Browning was in the game for most of the first three quarters. He completed 18-of-24 passes for 156 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

AJ McCarron came in for Browning toward the end of the third quarter. He completed 3-of-4 passes for 20 yards.
