NBA Referees Twitter Attempts to Explain Egregious No-Call on Bradley Beal Travel

Pistons forward Blake Griffin was noticeably shocked by the non-call.

Wizards All-Star Bradley Beal got a significant benefit of the doubt from the referees in Detroit on Monday night by skating past the Pistons defense with what appeared to be a five-step travel.

The missed call caught the attention of NBA fans all over social media on Monday night, but the league's official referee account decided to double-down on the no-call postgame.

"The offensive player gathers with his right foot on the ground. He then takes two legal steps, before losing control of the ball," the league's account said. "After regaining possession, a player is allowed to regain his pivot foot and pass or shoot prior to that foot returning to the ground. This is legal."

Watch Beal's dance down the lane and decided the call yourself:

Beal and the Wizards couldn't defeat Detroit even with the whistle advantage. The Pistons defeated Washington 121-112 behind 32 points and 17 rebounds from center Andre Drummond. Beal added 32 points and 10 assists in the defeat.
