USC Football: Trojans Steal MSU Commit On Signing Day

The Trojans steal a rival commit on signing day.

Your USC Trojans are officially signing linebacker Jadyn Walker, who flipped his commitment from Michigan State to USC on National Signing Day, via Luca Evans of the OC Register.

The Trojans announced their new signing on social media, following Walker flipping his commitment.

Walker originally committed to the Spartans on September 9, 2023, after visiting Michigan State on the same day. However, Walker later visited USC last December, and ultimately decided to de-commit from MSU to sign his letter of intent with USC on February 7, 2024.

The switch from Michigan State to USC means Walker, who attends high school at Portage Northern in Portage, Michigan, is opting to leave for California.

It also means that the Trojans are getting a player over one of their soon-to-be Big Ten rivals in Michigan State. Walker and the Trojans are not scheduled to play Michigan State in 2024, but they will likely face each other at another point.

The three-star recruit provides a much-needed addition to USC's defense, which struggled mightily last season. The Trojans defense has been their kryptonite over the last few seasons, ranking 116th in yards allowed per game in 2023. The Trojans gave up an average of 432.8 yards per game and 6.10 yards per play, two figures they need to improve.

The six-foot-three, 210-pound linebacker will work under new USC defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn. Lynn is expected to help mold Walker and this Trojans defense, after he successfully turned UCLA's defense into a top-ten unit in yards allowed per game.
