USC Football: First Look at Spring Practice, Key Storylines to Follow

Spring Practice Begins.

USC football begins its Spring Practices on Tuesday. For the first time this season, the Trojan football players are heading to practice, in preparation for their Spring football game on April 20.

The Trojans will also host their Pro Day one day after Spring Practice begins, on March 20.

Here's a look at some of the Trojans arriving for their first Pro Day:

One of the biggest storylines this Spring will be the quarterback battle between Miller Moss and Jayden Maiava. Moss impressed when he led the Trojans to a Holiday Bowl win while throwing six touchdown passes.

However, the Trojans brought in former UNLV QB Maiava as a transfer to provide another option and competition. Whoever wins the QB1 job will have big shoes to fill as they will replace Caleb Williams, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for the team.

Freshman defensive lineman Kameryn Fountain has already caught attention thanks to his impressive size and stature.

Another key storyline for the Trojans will be how their defense looks and develops under new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn. The Trojans managed to pull Lynn away from UCLA, where he established a top-ten defense. The defense has been the Trojans' kryptonite and an area they'll look to improve in 2024.

One notable Trojan absent from practice is Duce Robinson, who also plays for the school's baseball team. Robinson is instead playing in a baseball game on Tuesday.

However, star returner and first-team All-American Zachariah Branch is ready to go.
