OSU Softball: Cowgirls Come Back And Take The Series Over Baylor

It took all seven innings, but Oklahoma State came back in the seventh and stole the series from the Bears.

Oklahoma State stole the series from Baylor on Sunday.

Down one run going into the seventh inning, the Cowgirls collected two runs and took home the 3-2 victory over the Bears at Getterman Stadium in Waco, Texas.

OSU improves to 20-3 on the season, while Baylor falls to 14-5 on the season.

Baylor had full control of the contest, giving up only one run and two hits in the first six innings of the game against Oklahoma State.

The Cowgirls changed that narrative in the seventh, scoring two runs in the inning, including Megan Bloodworth’s RBI-single to put OSU up late in the game.

While OSU’s offense was struggling, its pitching was dominant again on Sunday. Ivy Rosenberry got the nod in the circle and caused Baylor problems, giving up only one run on five hits, two walks and three strikeouts in three innings of work.

Lexi Kilfoyl came in relief in the fourth inning and tamed the Bears, giving up one run on two hits and three strikeouts in four innings pitched.

Baylor striked first in the contest as Ana Watson hit a ball that hit the third base bag and bounced over Tallen Edwards, resulting in Shaylon Govan crossing home plate and making it 1-0.

Govan would do damage later in the fifth inning as she launched a ball over the wall in center field, increasing Baylor’s lead to 2-0.

OSU would crawl back into the contest in the sixth. Macy Graf drew a walk to open the inning, and Jilyen Poullard followed that up with a bunt-single.

Haidyn Sokoloski would come in for Poullard as a pinch runner, and she and Graf would advance off a wild pitch, putting runners on second and third with nobody out for Edwards.

She would get one back as she hit a shot to Abi Flores at first base, and Graf would beat her throw out at home and cut the lead to 2-1.

After Kilfoyl shut down Baylor in the bottom half of the sixth, the Cowgirls would pull through in the seventh.

Caroline Wang would lead off the inning with a double, and Scotland David would come in and pinch run for her.

After Rosie Davis moved her over to third, Micaela Wark would get David home, hitting a shot to second base, which allowed David to score to tie the game up 2-2.

Tia Warsop would single after that, and she would steal second, setting up an another scoring opportunity for Bloodworth.

The junior would come through, hitting an RBI-single down the right field line, scoring Warsop and putting OSU up 3-2.

Kilfoyl would hold off the Bears in the seventh, securing the victory and the series over Baylor.

Oklahoma State returns back home, and it will take on Central Arkansas on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
