Former Oklahoma State Wrestler Takes Official Visit to Iowa

AJ Ferrari takes an official visit to the Hawkeyes, his first known visit since being dismissed from the Cowboys.

AJ Ferrari is looking for a new home, and he is looking at all his options.

The former Oklahoma State wrestler took an official visit to the University of Iowa. It was his first known visit since being with OSU in 2022.

Ferrari’s time at Oklahoma State was decorated but short. In his freshman season, Ferrari took home the NCAA National Championship at 197 pounds, making him the third true freshman in program history to win a national title. He finished his 2021 season with a 20-1 overall record, including a 10-0 mark in duals.

In 2022, Ferrari started out hot. He secured a 10-0 record on the season before sustaining injuries in an automobile accident. OSU later dismissed Ferrari in 2022.

Later that year, Ferrari was charged with a felony count of sexual battery, but the charges were dropped in October 2023.

The visit to Iowa doesn’t come as a surprise as Ferrari’s brother lives in Iowa City and his youngest brother is already committed to Iowa, so the Hawkeyes would make sense for Ferrari.

Given what weight he wrestled at for the Cowboys, it would make sense for Ferrari to return to where he collected a national championship, which is 197 pounds.

Iowa this season is off to a hot start, posting a 5-0 record, including taking down No. 8 Iowa State in November. The stellar start has landed the Hawkeyes to No. 3 in the country.

The Cowboys are in similar territory as well as they have recorded a 4-0 overall record so far this season, including a 28-9 win over Oklahoma on Dec. 10.

Iowa and OSU will face off this season as they will hit the mat on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.

As for Ferrari, he has a decision to make, and Iowa looks to be the favorite right now to land the former Oklahoma State star.
