OSU Baseball: Cowboys Bounce Back in Win Over Utah Tech

Oklahoma State defeats Utah Tech 12-2

After a soul-crushing 9-8 loss against Utah Tech on Tuesday, the Cowboys were able to bounce back last night, beating the Trailblazers 12-2 to split the series.

The team did well all around, but the bats were on fire. The Pokes amassed 16 hits in the seven innings they played, with a total of seven hits going for extra bases. Colin Brueggemann led the way with three hits on four at-bats including a triple. He also had four RBIs.

Second baseman Avery Ortiz notched a home run, finishing with three hits and three RBIs. First baseman Carson Benge had himself a solid night as well, racking up three hits in four tries, two of those going for extra bases.

The pitching was on point on Wednesday night, only allowing two runs all game. Oklahoma State pitchers collected eight strikeouts while only allowing two runs and seven hits as a whole.

Ryan Bogusz got the start on the mound, allowing two runs off of four hits in three innings. He struck out four batters. Bryson Hudgens was credited with the win after pitching three shutout innings in which he only allowed two hits. He walked a batter and struck out two while on the mound.

Overall, this was a much-needed win after the loss on Tuesday. It is reassuring to see Oklahoma State bounce back and get the job done the way that they did on Wednesday.

It displays some mental toughness, which is all too important in today's game of baseball. A deep run is very much still on the table, and I am excited to see what this group can accomplish this season.
