OFFICIAL: Ohio State Signs Five-Star Edge Eddrick Houston
The Ohio State Buckeyes have two former five-star defensive linemen in J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer who could be heading to the NFL Draft this spring.
Fortunately for the Buckeyes, they just landed an impressive five-star defensive end to help make up for those potential losses, with Eddrick Houston signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday.
The No. 31 player and No. 4 defensive lineman in the class of 2024, Eddrick Houston, announced he was committing to Ohio State in August after he took an official visit on June 16.
Houston — who now joins 2024 wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham as the only five-star recruits of the class — chose the Buckeyes over Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and USC among others
In 12 games this season, Houston finished with 45 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and five sacks, per Max Preps.
In his junior campaign in 2022, he was even more productive 64 tackles, 11 for loss, 10 sacks and 15 quarterback hits en route to being named to MaxPrep's Junior All-American Second Team.
Houston also played tight end for the Wolves, in addition to running track and field and wrestling during his high school career.
Houston was offered by the Buckeyes Jan. 20, 2022, and is the eighth defensive commitment in their class.
The No. 5 player in the Peach State is one of the highest-rated defensive lineman prospects in program history, alongside Tuimoloau, Sawyer, Noah Spence, Nick Bosa, Chase Young, and Zach Harrison.
Bosa and Young were both drafted with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 and 2020 NFL drafts, respectively, while Tuimoloau and Sawyer are projected high-round picks in the 2024 draft.
