OFFICIAL: Ohio State Signs Five-Star WR Jeremiah Smith

Despite late rumors suggesting a possible flip, the Ohio State Buckeyes have secured the signature of five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith

Jeremiah Smith is officially an Ohio State Buckeye.

It was a long road for Ohio State fans. And likely one that was far too stressful at times.

But despite that, the road was worth the twists and turns, as the Buckeyes have finally secured the signature of the nation's top wide receiver after Smith signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday.

Smith the five-star No. 1 ranked wide receiver, and No. 2 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, now becomes one of the highest-rated recruits in the history of the Buckeyes program, joining the likes of Quinn Ewers, Terrelle Pryor, Ted Ginn Jr., J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer and Julian Fleming.

And some even better news for the Buckeyes, Smith will be joining the program as an early enrollee, meaning he will be in Colombus for spring football.

"I'm coming to Ohio State to be one of the best receivers to ever come through Ohio State," Smith said on ESPN's broadcast. "I'm coming. In January, I'm definitely going to be there, and I'm coming to work, definitely. Go Bucks."

Smith is likely to be a very early contributor for the Buckeyes next season and could find a way to crack the starting lineup from Day 1, due to his sheer talent and game-breaking ability.

And considering the talent that lies in the Buckeyes receiver room, even with the likely losses of Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka - not to mention the transfer of Fleming - that is certainly saying something.
