LSU WBB: The Latest on the No. 1 Prospect in America Sarah Strong
Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers are turning up the heat on the recruiting trail as they continue looking to bolster their roster for the long haul.
Over the last month, the staff has checked in on both the No. 1 and No. 2 prospects in the 2025 cycle, sources confirm to LSU Country, but this program is also keeping tabs on the No. 1 player in the current class.
A recruiting update on LSU as they quietly make moves behind the scenes:
Sarah Strong: No. 1 Prospect in the 2024 Cycle
The LSU staff has been in hot pursuit of the No. 1 prospect in America: Sarah Strong.
The top recruit in the 2024 class, Strong's recruitment has been one that's tough to keep up with after several visits last fall.
Now, she's released her final three schools consisting of Duke, North Carolina and UCONN.
LSU did not make the final cut for Strong, the top prospect in the current class.
Sources confirmed that LSU went and traveled to see Strong next for her state championship in February, but the Tigers are now out of the running for the No. 1 recruit.
A player that opted to wait until the spring window to sign her National Letter of Intent, she's a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.
All signs point to a UCONN vs. North Carolina battle here for Strong as crunch time begins in her process.

Jasmine Davidson: No. 2 Prospect in America (2025 Cycle)
Last week, the LSU staff hit the road to check in on the No. 2 prospect in the 2025 class: Jasmine Davidson.
Sources confirmed to LSU Country that LSU will look to make another trip in the coming weeks to see Davidson once again.
The 6-foot-1 junior sensation has been wined and dined by the top programs in America with LSU turning up the heat.
The Tigers are one of the latest programs to get her in for a visit after she made her way to Baton Rouge in January when LSU faced Arkansas in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Davidson, who has offers from a slew of schools including UCONN, Stanford and Oregon, among others, sat court side for the Tigers' showdown.
A player who's been on the national scene for years, Davidson is a household name on the recruiting trail.
Now, after a visit to Baton Rouge and another check in from the staff, the Tigers will look keep their foot on the gas even more in her recruitment before she takes on her senior campaign in 2024.
LSU is ramping up their recruitment in the 2025 cycle. With Davidson in the mix, the Tigers will also get the No. 1 prospect in America, Aaliyah Chavez, in town for a visit soon.
Aaliyah Chavez: No. 1 Prospect in America (2025 Cycle)
LSU head coach Kim Mulkey and assistant coach Gary Redus made the trip to Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday to check in on Chavez during Round 1 of the playoffs.
Chavez, the top prospect in the 2025 cycle, has blossomed during her junior campaign with her Monterey squad taking home the victory on Wednesday.
When it comes to LSU, the Tigers are putting their foot on the gas in her recruitment after another in-person visit while watching her game this week.
Chavez released her Top 10 schools recently with LSU making the cut alongside Arizona, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA, and USC.
“I just want to thank all the coaches for their time invested into recruiting me on this journey,” Chavez wrote. “After much consideration me and my family have come down to a list of my top 10 schools.”
Once her junior season wraps up, Chavez will likely take a visit to Baton Rouge to check in with Mulkey and Co. while soaking in the scenes of the reigning National Champions.
Chavez is averaging 38.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.4 steals per game as a junior as she looks to lead her Monterey squad to a state title.
For her career, the No. 1 2025 prospect is averaging 31 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists
Now, LSU looks to wine and dine Chavez as they prepare to get her down South for a visit sooner rather than later.
After signing the No. 1 class in the 2023 cycle, Mulkey's program is looking to build sustained greatness in Baton Rouge with the top prep players in America on their radar.
Chavez, the top hooper on the prep scene, is the coveted target they're pursuing in next year's cycle alongside several Top 10 prospects.
