Denver Post reporter who slammed Deion Sanders tries to "bark up the wrong tree" again

Coach Prime and his assistants have to deal with trap questions

The Colorado Buffaloes opened the Spring Practice session in Boulder on Monday. It was the first time some of the new players and coaches met with the media after a slew of offseason moves.

One of the newest hires on Deion Sanders' staff was Phil Loadholt, who took over offensive line duties from recently exiting Bill O'Boyle. The Colorado native explained how he was excited to be home and was ready for the task of fixing last year's mistakes.

One of the reporters in the room firing off questions was Sean Keeler. The Denver Post "Shock Jock" writer, who has been hypercritical of Sanders and his family, tried to load up a shot towards Loadholt. Keeler initially asked how the interview process went with Coach Prime, which on the surface felt odd. And given the history between Sanders and Keeler was rather interesting to say the least.

"I went down to his house and saw him and spent some time with him down (In Dallas)," Loadholt said. "I let him know my philosophy and how I want to take care of things and that point was definitely made that it's important to keep the quarterback up. So, I'm excited to have that chance to do that."

Keeler then asked if Shedeur Sanders was part of the interview process as well. Of course, Loadholt said he was never involved. But why would he?

"(Shedeur's) opinion means something," Loadholt said. "I'm sure that coach talked to him about it, but he wasn't there that day."

It was yet another example of Keeler wanting to make it personal with Sanders. During the week of the Super Bowl, Keeler dropped an article that led with a title calling Coach Prime a "False Prophet," which has been said before. He went on to say Sanders was the "Bruce Lee of B.S." and "Harold Hill in designer shades."

For those who don't understand the Hill reference, he was a character in Disney's 1962 film 'The Music Man', who played the role of a bandleader while embezzling money meant for uniforms and instruments. Keeler was basically attacking Sanders for being a business fraud. Maybe the Denver Post columnist got his feelings hurt after Coach Prime called him out in a press conference last year.

Keeler tried to ask a controversial question and after going back and forth with Sanders was told to stop. "You're barking up a tree that you ain't going to get up," Sanders said. "So, just let it go." The exchange became a viral moment with the Post's top guy on the wrong end of it all.

Keeler is clearly auditioning to be the head cheerleader for the "Deion doubters," along with a few others. With a little luck, he might bark loud enough to get the title while enjoying the action elsewhere this year.
