Virginia vs. Boston College Prediction, NCAAF Picks & Odds: Sat, 9/30

Virginia vs. Boston College Prediction

After yet another electric week of college football action, we look ahead to Saturday once again. The Virginia Cavaliers will visit Boston College in a fairly evenly matched game. Virginia has struggled so far this season, with an 0-4 record that includes some close losses. They are coming off a three point loss to NC State last weekend. It hasn’t been perfect for the BC Eagles either, however, as they began their season with an overtime loss to Northern Illinois, and also lost a heartbreaker to the FSU Seminoles who are ranked third in the nation. With a 56-28 loss to a very solid and undefeated Louisville team last weekend, the Eagles look to right the ship in front of their home crowd, and build on what they learned against Florida State in their near upset.

Virginia Cavaliers vs. Boston College Eagles Prediction for Saturday’s NCAAF Game

On Saturday, we’re in for a fun matchup in the ACC, featuring Virginia and Boston College. Both teams are currently winless in the ACC, but this will change Saturday. With Boston College currently in last place, they’ll be looking for a bounce back win at home to move up the standings. This matchup is a tough one to predict, because both of these teams have proven that they can hang around with some really solid teams, but their records don’t show it. Virginia got a costly penalty last week against NC State, who proceeded to take advantage and win on a game winning field goal. This was a bit of a moral victory for Virginia, though, considering the fact that NC State is 3-1 at the moment. The Cavaliers showcased some solid offense in the loss last week, with 271 yards passing by Anthony Colandrea. 170 of these yards went to senior wide receiver Malik Washington, who also scored two touchdowns. It’s safe to say that BC will be looking to limit Washington this week after that performance.

Now, let’s take a look at these Boston College Eagles current form. The Eagles came only two points away from taking down Florida State two weeks ago, and this gave Eagles fans a lot of hope for the rest of the season. However, undefeated Louisville came out on fire last week and crushed the Eagles. There were some bright spots for BC in the game though, including 295 passing yards, with Thomas Castellanos throwing for 265 of them and 3 touchdowns against a talented defense. Castellanos also collected 49 yards rushing with a TD on the ground. Also, the Eagles were able to spread their receiving yards out to a plethora of ball-catchers, with Ryan O’Keefe leading the way with 86 receiving yards. Lewis Bond also had himself a day with 71 yards and two touchdowns. This is a great sign that BC is getting a lot of guys involved in the offense, as the Virginia defense isn’t nearly up to snuff with Louisville’s.

Our Virginia vs. Boston College prediction is mainly rooted in the fact that BC has home field advantage in this one, and they’re the better team on paper. If the Eagles can take care of the football and impose their will early on, they should be able to win this game by more than a field goal.

Picks & Best Bets for Virginia vs. Boston College Featuring Boston College -3 (-115)

As we spoke about above, we’re going to be rolling with the home team Eagles in this one. The Virginia Cavaliers are winless for a reason, and we don’t see that changing this Saturday against a better Boston College team. Thomas Castellanos has looked promising so far, and he should be licking his chops going up against a Virginia defense that struggles against the run and pass. The spread is currently set at -3 (-115) in favor of the Eagles, and we’re more than willing to lay a field goal with BC here.
